BRIEF HISTORY OF LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY (LASU)

Lagos State University or LASU as popularly known is the only state university in the former British colony, it is a state university established in 1983 with its main campus in Ojo, Lagos state, western Nigeria. 

LASU has three campuses located at Ojo along Badagry Expressway, Epe and Ikeja respectively and offers courses at Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels and also runs MBA Programs. While the Ojo campus is the main campus, the Epe and Ikeja campuses houses the Faculty of Engineering and the College of Medicine respectively. In 2018, LASU had the department of Aeronautic Engineering accredited. With a student capacity of about 35,000 she ranks 22 in the country.

The University’s vision is to provide Lagos state with the required human capital for the sustenance of her position as the commercial and industrial hub of the federal Republic of Nigeria and the strategic transformation of the industrial capacity of the state in particular, as well as the country in general.

She also has a mission to provide qualitative education to the large populace of Lagos State in particular and Nigeria as a whole by preparing them for the challenges of managing the public and private sectors of the state

Some of the main objectives of the university are:

  • To form the apex of the educational system of Lagos state as well as to provide facilities for leaning, and to give instruction and training in such areas of knowledge as the University may desire to foster and, in doing so, to enable students obtain the advantage of liberal education;
  • To promote, by research and other means, the advancement of knowledge and its practical application to social, cultural, economic, scientific and technological problems;
  • To encourage the advancement of learning and to provide the opportunity for acquiring higher and liberal education among others

LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY (LASU) CUT OFF MARK 2020/2021

The Jamb approved cut off mark for 2020/2021 academic session for LASU is 180, candidates with 180 and above UTME score are qualified to purchase the PUTME form and partake in the screening exercise .

LASU GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

In addition to having a UTME score of 180 candidates must;

  • Have 5 O’ level credit passes including Maths and English and three other course related subjects 
  • have the right subject combinations 
  • Choose LASU as their most preferred institution
