The BUK fixed JAMB cut off mark for the 2020/2021 academic session is 180, Candidates that score 180 and above in the 2020 UTME and meet up with other admission requirements are eligible to buy, process and partake in the PUTME screening exercise for admission.

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Undergraduate Utme application 

Candidates under this category must;

  1. Score a minimum of 180 and above in relevant UTME subjects 
  2. Have sat for and acquired an O’ level result ( WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB) with 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English Language and three other course related subjects in not more than two sittings 
  3. Have the right subjects combination in UTME
  4. Make BUK their first choice  University.

Undergraduate Direct Entry Application 

Candidates under this category are required to possess a merit in OND, NCE, IJMB (with a minimum of 8 points), GCE ‘A’ Level (3 credits) and a Pass in HND. In addition to the above, applicants must also possess all the necessary ‘O’ Level requirements required for undergraduate admission.

Post UTME Application Procedure

Candidates are to carefully follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Bayero University website, www.buk.edu.ng and click on POST-UTME Application Portal
  2. Login using your UTME NumberandUTME score then upload your passport-sized photograph.
  3. Fill-in the Applicant’s Particulars Form.
  4. Print your personalized Payment Invoice and use the invoice to make the payment of N2,500 (Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira Only) at any branch of Banks Listed on your Invoice nationwide.
  5. Once the payment is made, return to the website, www.buk.edu.ng and login again. Your payment will be updated then you can print your Examination Card.
  6. No Applicant will be allowed to sit for the Post-UTME test without a valid Examination Card.

Please provide a valid phone number and email address when filling the form as the date of the Post UTME examinations will be announced in the media as well as communicated to all registered applicants through their phone numbers and email addresses. The Venue, Time and Sitting Arrangement for the test will be on applicants’ Examination Cards.

Direct Entry Screening Application Procedure:

  1. Go to the Bayero University website, www.buk.edu.ng and click on Direct Entry Screening Portal
  2. Login using your Direct Entry Number, theProgram Applied for and yourGender, then upload your passport-sizedphotograph.
  3. Fill-in the Applicant’s Particulars Form.
  4. Print your personalized Payment Invoice and use the invoice to make the payment of N2,500 (Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira Only) at any branch of Banks Listed on your Invoice nationwide.
  5. Once the payment is made, return to the website, www.buk.edu.ng and login again. Your payment will be updated then you can update theO’ Level and A’ Level Qualifications Form.
  6. Print your Acknowledgment Slip

Brief History Of Bayero University Kano (BUK)

Bayero University at first bore the name Ahmadu Bello College, the name of the school was given to take after Ahmadu Bello the Northern premier of Nigeria. It was established in 1960 with its location within the School of Arabic Studies in the old city of Kano with a G.C.E and A-level Students preparation mandate in some specific courses. It was renamed Abdullahi Bayero College in 1962 after the establishment of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State, and later became a Faculty of the new University .

In 1964, the school moved from its initial temporary location to an area at the old Kano Airport Hotel, during which she admitted her first set of students and remained there until March 1968. These first set of students started their studies in February 1964 and graduated in July 1966. 

In 1975, the school attained the status of a University College and was renamed Bayero University College. In 1977, when all University Colleges in the country were upgraded to independent Universities the college attained a new status again and was renamed Bayero University, Mahmud Tukur who was the principal of the University college became the pioneer Vice chancellor of the university. It was under the administration of Mahmud Tukur that the foundation of the present day permanent site was initiated and laid.
